The Italian villa from "Call me by your name" is up for sale

You don’t have to have seen (and cried over) this year’s breakout film, Call Me By Your Name, to appreciate the grandeur of the freshly-listed Lombardian villa which acted as its main set.

The former fortress converted into a 17th-century home has hit the market in Moscazzano for about $2.1 million. And as far as historic Italian mansions with rolling greens and famous backgrounds go, it’s a bit of a steal.

The full extent of home’s glory never made it into the film — frescoed ceilings, cloth-covered walls, and antique gilded molding line the 15,000-square-foot house. Fans will recognize some of the estate’s 14 rooms, including the Perlman family study and the blue bathroom shared by Elio Perlman (played by Timothée Chalamet) and Oliver (played by Armie Hammer).

Director Luca Guadagnino has a history of lavish scenery in his films, and Andre Aciman, whose novel was adapted for the movie, was actually worried that the home was too beautiful.

“That’s one of the things I was scared of: that the movie was going to be lush, the house was going to be lush,” Aciman told ELLE Decor last year.

You can buy the home and recreate the films best moment’s — like all the al fresco dining, the heated passes in the hallway, and the weeping scene in front of the dining room fireplace that may just win Timothée an Academy Award.
