OBZOR

Obzor is a small town located on the border between Varna and Bourgas regions, where the mountain meets the see. It has the longest beach on the Black sea coast. The town features good infrastructure.

Obzor is a town located on the Black Sea coast in Southeastern Bulgaria in Nesebar municipality, Burgas Province. The small town of Byala is the nearest one to Obzor, just 6 km from it.

Obzor is situated on the border between Varna and Bourgas regions, along the scenic road connecting the southern and northern Black Sea coast, 65 km south of Varna and 74 km north of Bourgas, about 440 km from Sofia and 328 km from Plovdiv.

Obzor is located in a gulf, which begins north of Cape St. Atanas and to the south reaches cape Emine. The city is situated on the hills of Balkan mountain range, which slopes descend to the sea, along the river Dvoinitsa.

Obzor is called the pearl of the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, because of its long coastline - about 12 kilometers long and 20 - 60 meters wide. The combination of sea and mountain, tranquility and hospitality of the locals, Obzor is preferred tourist destination.

A mineral spring can be found in the mountain near the town.

  • TOURISM
    Obzor is one of the oldest settlements on the Bulgarian coastline. The numerous architectural and ceramic fragments that were found in the area of the city, and the ruins of fortress walls attest to its rich history. The first settlement in these lands is Thracian and his name was Navlohos. Obzor is situated on the edge of the mountain and the sea. North of the city there are three camps "Moon", "Prostor" and "Sun". The wild Irakli beach extends South of Obzor. Next to it Cape Emine and the small village of Emona are located, where ancient Thracian sanctuary and the remains of a medieval fortress and monastery can be found. The rocky cape Emine is the southernmost point of Balkan mountain range. It is 60 meters high and jutting out into the sea. At Cape Emine can be seen remains of a church and a medieval fortress. Medieval fortress Kozyak is located approximately 3 km west of Obzor. It is believed that the fortress consisted of two parts. In the nineteenth century it was visited by small ships because the coast was difficult to access. They exported timber. There is a museum exhibition in Obzor. Historical and ethnographic collection has been gathered over 30 years and presents the history, architecture, lifestyle and culture of the inhabitants of the ancient village.
