NESSEBAR

Nessebar is an ancient town. The Old part of Nessebar, located on a small peninsula, is included in UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. Nessebar is an architectural and archaeological reserve, combining ancient sightseeing with modern facilities.

Nessebar is an ancient town founded by the name of Melsambria more than 3200 years ago. The town was declared an architectural and archaeological reserve.

Nessebar is bordered to the north with the biggest Bulgarian Black Sea resort Sunny Beach. In close proximity to Nessebar are the towns of Ravda, Pomorie and St. Vlas.
Burgas is at 34 km distance from Nessebar, Varna is 100 km and Plovdiv - 282 km. This towns provide international airports.

The city is the administrative center of the municipality of Nessebar.

Because of its exceptional cultural and historical heritage, Nessebar was declared as a museum and resort of international importance.
In 1983 the Old part of Nesebar was included in UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites.

The old town of Nessebar is located on a small peninsula, and the new part of the town is on the mainland. The old and new part of the city are connected by a narrow isthmus.

Valuable historical monuments are preserved in the old town.

The new part of the town is distinguished by modern architecture, there are a variety of types of accommodation, restaurants and bars, administration buildings and other institutions.

In the southeastern part of Nessebar is located its South Park.

Beaches offer boating, various water sports and a tour helicopter over Nesebar.
Among entertainment in Nessebar is the Aqua Park.

The climate of Nessebar is continental. The average temperature in July is +23.1°C, and in January is +2°C. The maximum precipitation is in September.

Nessebar roads are well maintained. Highly developed is the bus transport in the region.

    Nessebar is a museum with over 20 sites included in the list of world cultural heritage by UNESCO. Among the main attractions in town are the old Nessebar houses of the Bulgarian Revival period (XVIII and XIX c.), the remains of the city wall from the Roman era and the Middle Ages and the windmill at the beginning of the old town. Cultural heritage of the city is preserved in 5 museum. In the old part of the city there are about 40 churches. One of the symbols of Nessebar is the Old Mill, located on the isthmus that connects the old city with the new one. The isthmus is a favorite place for guests and residents of Nessebar. There are walking paths on both sides, near the sea. At the beginning of the new town of Nessebar is situated a real, functioning mill, which is now built into a hotel. The ancient theater of Old Town hosts concerts and other events.
