Chernomorets is a small town of a resort type. Chernomorets is located 25 km southeast of Burgas on the southern coast of the large Bourgas bay. East of Chernomorets are situated the island of St. John and the town of Sozopol just 9 km from it.

The village has an excellent location in a kind of hollow near the shore on a small bay of the sea. The small bay has the shape of a horseshoe facing north. Since ancient times the Greeks used to called "Agios Nicholas" (St. Nicholas).

Chernomorets lies at the low northern slopes of the Strandzha mountain, between Cape Emine to the north and the Arkutino marshland to the south.

The climate in Chernomorets is softer than in other parts of the region - the water temperature in summer is + 20-26°C and the air temperature is + 26-30°C.

There are 4 beaches in the resort. Some of them are calm lonely beaches whereas others are lively. Nearby Chernomorets some nice camping sites can be found such as 'Garden', 'Goldfish' and 'Chernomorets'. All beaches are suitable for bathing of children and adults, as well as for all kinds of water sports.
Camping "Garden", only 1.5 km, offers excellent conditions for surfing.

The rocky beach in the eastern part of Chernomorets provides conditions for lovers of nudism, diving from different heights of the cliffs and fishing.

Landmarks in Chernomorets are Orthodox Church "St. Nicolas” with Garden of Eden in front of it, Archaeological Museum and the remains of an ancient village found near Chernomorets.

Chernomorets features many new hotels, villas and private rooms and it is growing very fast. Still in the town there are no large complexes, which helps to keep quiet atmosphere in the town.

In Chernomorets there are numerous cafes, from panoramic located on the beach or the main shopping street to secluded ones in a backyard of a house. Pavement cafes are dominated in the town.
Many flowers and shrubs are impressive in almost every yard of the house or restaurant.

    There are many restaurants, taverns and cafes in Chernomorets. Some are panoramic located on the beach, others are situated on the main shopping street or sheltered amidst a backyard of house. Restaurants offer Bulgarian and international cuisine, seafood dishes, various drinks and shows.

    The town has two discos. They work from 22:30 until early morning. One of the clubs is for 120 persons and the other club is located on the central beach.

    "Dimo Nikolov" is a community center with activities of group dances, folklore dances and music, etc. The library is situated there.

    • Football playground
    A modern football field with an artificial surface was constructed in Chernomorets. The field's size is 60 to 40 meters. There is also lighting at the stadium, which gives a prerequisite for sports in the evening.

    • Playground and Fitness Park
    There is a park with a playground with a lot of swings and slides. There is also a playground with fitness equipment, which are available for free.

  • SIGHTSEEING

    • Temple "St. Nicholas" and the Garden of Eden
    One of the landmarks of Chernomorets is the Orthodox Church "St. Nicholas" and the Garden of Eden in front of the church. The temple is a new one-storey building. In 1994 it was burned and only a wooden cross and an icon of "Saint Nicholas" were saved. The building was restored with funds from the locals.

    Stone formations located to the north of Chernomorets are also interesting.

    Chernomorets borders a river to the south and more further along the coast meets the ancient town of Sozopol.

    • Archaeological Museum in Chernomorets
    The Archaeological Museum is located adjacent to the hotel-restaurant "Castle".

    Part of the exhibition at the Archaeological Museum are artifacts found during ground and underwater excavations of the city of Accra.

    The Archaeological Museum has three exhibitions: cultural and historical heritage of Chernomorets, Black Sea finds of civilization from Resovo to Shabla and ethnographic items from everyday life of the Strandja region near the Black Sea.

    • Ancient village near Chernomorets
    The settlement was found near the ancient fortress of Acre cape near Chernomorets. It arose shortly after the Trojan War, according to recent studies of archaeologists. Part of the city wall and towers have been restored.

    Beaches
    Chernomorets has 4 beautiful and clean beaches - Central Beach, Camping Chernomorets, King's Bay - Camping Garden and Gulf Vormos.

    • The central beach is lively, with golden sand and shallow waters suitable for families with children and for fishing.
    • Beach at camping Garden is suitable for lovers of water sports - surfing, jet, water skiing, pedalo, banana and others.
    • The beach at camping Chernomorets is secluded, with golden sand and small pebbles. It is preferred by nudists. There is a small forest near the beach.
    • Beach Vormos is almost unvisited huge beach with silver sand and crystal clear water. Suitable for children - the water is warm, calm and shallow hundreds of feet offshore.

    Rocky beach in the eastern part of Chernomorets provide conditions for diving from different heights of rocks, fishing and for lovers of nudism.

    Boat trip

    Boats in Chernomorets offer walk to two islands of St. John and St. Anastasia located near the city.

    St. Ivan Island is the largest island in the Black Sea of Bulgaria. Its area is 660 acres, and its highest point is 33 meters above the sea. It is 1 km from Chernomorets.
    Island St. Ivan is subject to ongoing archaeological research. In the VII century BC. Thracian sanctuary was made here and in the early Middle Ages was built a large monastery. The island is inhabited by many species of birds. The biggest colony of silver gull (Larus argentatus) in Bulgaria is located on the island.

    The Island "Saint Anastasia" offers a museum telling the history of the island, a church with restored frescoes from the 14th century, a guest house overlooking the Bay of Burgas, a restaurant serving traditional cuisine, etc.
