POMORIE

Pomorie is located on a narrow rocky peninsula on the Black Sea coast.
The peninsula is located 18 km northeast of Burgas, 16 km from Nessebar and 396 km from Sofia.

To the north Pomorie borders the Pomorie Lake and connects with the Pomorie field that is part of Bourgas Valley.

Pomorie is the third largest city on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast after Varna and Burgas.

The town is the administrative centre of the Pomorie Municipality.

Pomorie has gradually developed into spa and balneo resort, thanks to the mineral water springs in the city and the healing properties of the mud extracted during the production of salt in Pomorie Lake.

"Via Pontica" migratory route passes through Pomorie, where birds nest by the Pomorie Lake.

The average air temperature and water in July is +23,6°C, the number of sun per year up to 2360 hours. The winter is mild, with minimal rainfall.
A beach of Pomorie is about 5 km long.

Pomorie is a tourist destination with ancient architectural monuments and houses.
The town was founded as a Greek colony named Anhialo in the V century BC. Much of its inhabitants were Thracians. The town especially reached its zenith during the Roman rule.

There are bars and restaurants, hospitals, schools, vocational school of tourism and kindergartens in Pomorie.

Convenient transport links connect Pomorie with Sofia, Burgas, Varna and other towns and resorts. Burgas Airport is only 8 km away.

The Pomorie Bay is preferred for sailing boats and fishing.
