GOLDEN SANDS

The resort of Golden Sands is the largest one on the Northern Black Sea coast (more than 1800 hectares). It is situated 17 km north-east of Varna and about 500 km from Sofia. North of the resort is the village of Kranevo and south is Chaika holiday village. Golden Sands merges with the St. St. Konstantin and Elena Resort and Riviera resort.

Golden Sands is one of the oldest Bulgarian sea resorts, founded in 1956, with the construction of 70 hotels.

Golden Sands is the winner of a "Blue Flag" - a prestigious international award for environmentally clean resorts. Golden Sands beach is one of the best on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast because of the golden soft sand and the considerable length and width. In places, the beach is 100 meters wide, which is rare for Black Sea resorts, and its length is 3.5 km. The sandy sea bottom gently slopes into the sea. It is without rocks. The beach starts at the foot of the forest.

The clean and calm waters of the sea with low salinity and the absence of fish and animals dangerous to human health, are ideal for scuba diving and holiday with children.

Golden Sands covers an area of 177.13 hectares. The resort is located in a Natural Park, in a protected area. On the territory of the park there are protected species of flora and fauna. Thick deciduous forest with entwined creeping plants in places gently descends to the seacoast.

Several dozens of hotels are located along the coast and among the trees of the park. In the alleys of the resort there are hundreds of restaurants and entertainment. Golden Sands is famous for its numerous clubs and discos.

The resort is well-known for its curative mineral springs used in spa and rehabilitation centers.

Five tourist routes were built in Golden Sands, which pass through old fountains and places with beautiful sea view. Cultural heritage of the park covers the period from Antiquity to the late Middle Ages.

The climate here is mild, temperate continental, similar to the climate of the Mediterranean resorts. The summer is long and hot, but there is constant sea breeze. The average temperature during the day in summer months is 27°C of the air and 24°C of the sea water. The warm weather in early spring and late fall makes the area ideal for medical treatment and recreation.
