BYALA (VARNA)

The town of Byala is located on the Black Sea coast in the northeastern part of Bulgaria in Varna region, near the border with the Bourgas region. The city is the administrative center of the Municipality of Byala.
Byala is a calm coastal town that offers good conditions for living and recreation.

The nearest town to Byala is Obzor, just 5 km away. Varna is 52 km to the north of Byala, Burgas - 76 km to the south, Sofia is 455 km away and Plovdiv - 324 km.
About 20 km south is Irakli camp, one of the most pristine sites on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast.

The relief of Byala can be characterized as hilly. In the western and northern parts of the municipality, eastern slopes of the Kamchiyska mountain smoothly descend to the sea.

The coastline is characterized by a combination of rocks, beaches with sand dunes and small coves. The total length of the beach is 14,300 meters. Most of the beaches are with eastern, northeastern and southeastern exposure. The total length of the beach is 6244 meters.

The main activities in Byala are tourism and agriculture. The peak tourist season is between May and August and it continues until September. Near Byala there are several beaches and campsites. Vines and other crops are grown around the city.

Byala boasts with a well developed network of accommodation and living.
The municipality has several small factories with different activities.

Interesting attractions in the city are Ethnographic Park, paleo-geological site White Rocks.

The first settlement in the region of Byala probably emerged during the VI c. BC., around the bay of Cape St. Atanas. Byala consists of several parts, reflecting different periods of settlement. For example, the Greek neighborhood was created in 20s of the 20th century. In the first half of the 80s of the XX century construction of the street network of Byala was finished. Until 1984 a new bus station and new building of the municipal council were opened. In 1986 stadium and an outdoor cinema were built. Today the city continues to improve its infrastructure.
